ASTM B163 N04400 Alloy Steel Seamless Tube Condenser and Heat Exchanger Application



ASTM B163 N04400 alloy steel seamless tube is a high-performance, multi-purpose corrosion-resistant alloy pipe. The wall thickness is usually between 1.24-59.54mm, and the outer diameter ranges from 21.3-1219.2mm. The main chemical components are nickel (≥ 63%), copper (28.0%~34.0%), iron (≤ 2.5%), carbon (≤ 0.30%), manganese (≤ 2.0%), silicon (≤ 0.50%), and sulfur (≤ 0.024%). These unique chemical components endow it with excellent corrosion resistance.

In terms of mechanical properties, ASTM B163 N04400 alloy steel seamless tubes have good plasticity and toughness, can maintain low wear rates under various working conditions, and have good formability, which can be processed by cutting, welding, heat treatment and other processing techniques. N04400 alloy steel seamless tubes have excellent corrosion resistance in media such as hydrofluoric acid, fluorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and their derivatives, and are more corrosion-resistant than copper based alloys in seawater. In addition, it is resistant to corrosion from neutral solutions, water, atmosphere, organic compounds, etc., and does not produce stress corrosion cracking. With its high temperature strength and good oxidation resistance, N04400 alloy tube can work stably in high temperature and harsh environments. The maximum temperature for continuous operation in the air is generally around 600 ℃.


During use, it should be noted that N04400 alloy pipes cannot withstand corrosion from substances such as nitric oxide, nitrous acid, sulfur dioxide, and hypochlorite. Therefore, they should not be used in environments that are exposed to these elements.
